Tipperary Hosts Introduction of "The Keeners"
March 11 at 6 pm Tipperary hosted the launch of Maura D. Shaw's new book "The Keeners" in The Bruno Auditorium at The Arts Center on Monument Square in historic Downtown Troy.
It Brings an Irish Family To Troy
The rough beauty of Co. Clare is seventeen year old Margaret Meehan's whole world, and it's nearly perfect. Her family is well and thriving, farming Ireland's staple crop. She expects to marry handsome Tom Riordan, raise the children, and live in a cottage across the lane from her best friend, Kit Dooley. She has found her calling and is apprenticed to the old Nuala Lynch. Together they keen for the dead, wailing the grief and pain of the bereaved in hopes of healing your sorrow. Margaret's life if full of hope, full of purpose.
But the year is 1846. The potato blight has returned. Pitiful harvests rot overnight and the people are dying. Ireland is dying. And Margaret cannot keen for an entire country.
Out of devastation, Margaret Meehan’s tale begins. Leaving her decimated family, the tragic Kitty, and the death of dreams behind, she flees with her husband, now a wanted man, to America. In Troy, New York, where pig iron, starched collars, and union banners herald the success of Irish immigrants, Margaret discovers something even more precious than a new life and modest prosperity. She finds the heart and soul of Ireland. And she finds it in the voice of . . . The Keeners . . .

A wonderful crowd gathered as Maura came to Troy and signed copies and read from her exciting new book. We have all read the advance copies and love the book or we wouldn't tell you about it.
The book is available NOW at Tipperary or right here in our online store. Just click on TIPP STORE in the menu then visit the book department. List 25.95 Tipp price 24.99. Thank you to everyone who joined Tipperary at THE ARTS CENTER Friday night.

Another Tipperary 25th Anniversary Event

Tipperary just concluded a Finnian Raffle to Benefit The Little Sisters Of The Poor. A very special, huge, never put into production, one of a kind, collectors dream Finnian was awarded to a special Mom who's daughter was kind enough to buy a ticket in her name and Tipperary made a nice donation to the good works of the Little Sister of the Poor.
Thank You To Everyone Who Made Declan's Visit To Tipperary So Special! As you know Tipperary stocks America's best selection of those adorable, highly collectable Finnians and in celebration of our 25th Anniversary Finnian founder and creator Declan Ferron visited Tipperary. Tipperary is one of only a very small handful of stores worldwide at which Declan continues hold signings and it is always such a pleasure to have him.
Check back here often to find out when Declan will return to Tipperary!

Finnian Creator To Come to Tipperary

Declan Fearon, the man who created The Finnians is coming to Tipperary. December 18th is the day. Finnians are among the most popular collectibles in Ireland and America and no one stocks more than Tipperary. Hundreds in stock everyday. Stop in and choose the ones you would like Declan to sign today. We will also feature a very special retired Finnian that day and have a drawing for an original Finnian that was never put into production.  This is a very rare signing appearance by Declan, Tipperary is one of only a couple of stores worldwide that Declan still personally visits, and he is a great guy.
